CURRENT FAMILIES

Steele Street

Welcome to University Prep
– Steele Street!

University Prep – Steele Street has been proudly serving the Clayton neighborhood since August of 2016 when we opened our doors. We pride ourselves in providing a warm, joyful, focused, and safe learning environment for all children, and work diligently to ensure scholars experience academic success every single day.

In our classrooms, scholars not only develop their core knowledge and skills, but the strength of their character. With a focus on our PREP Values (Pride, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, and Perseverance), our children build the mindsets and habits needed to grow into great people. The combination of focusing on both academic and character development, in direct partnership with our families sets, the stage for a genuine life of opportunity.

Serving in the principal role over the past eight years and being a mom of three, I take the education of our youngest scholars incredibly seriously. It is my deep belief that all children deserve to go to a school where they are loved, seen, held to high expectations, and pushed to learn and grow to the best of their abilities. As a mother, I believe schools and families must work together to support every child socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically.

Our school community represents an incredibly diverse group of people who are beautifully united – fully committed to the success of each child. We would love for you to choose U Prep – Steele Street as your home away from home. If you have already made that choice, I’m so grateful to have you as part of our family. If you are in the midst of making that choice, welcome! We’re thrilled you’ve chosen to join us.

Bienvenidos – I am delighted to welcome you to our University Prep – Steele Street campus.

I am proud to say that I’ve been directly supporting our Clayton neighborhood and the surrounding communities since 1998 when I helped found the original school in our building, Pioneer Charter Schools. More than 25 years later, here I am, still doing whatever I can each day to support and uplift our school community.

As the Dean of Operations, I have the privilege of overseeing all the supports needed for our scholars, families and staff to thrive. Whether it’s managing transportation, food services, the ordering of classroom materials and supplies or coordinating parent/teacher conferences, I do whatever I can to strengthen everyone’s experience, making it the best it can possibly be.

Our Steele Street campus is an incredibly special place where we’ve cultivated a diverse and deeply connected school community, with our families and educators working hand in hand to ensure the success of every child. Our teachers are best in class, our kids have ambitious dreams for their futures and our families are unwavering in their commitment to our school’s mission. I am deeply proud to call U Prep my “work home” and carry an incredible sense of love and commitment to our Steele Street campus.

Staying Connected

Communication between school and home is key – be sure to update your front office team with any changes in phone, email or address.

Ways for Parents to Get Involved

We love parents working alongside of us to bring our mission to life.

School Accountability Committee (SAC)

If you’re a parent who wants to take a leadership role in the school and be deeply connected to decision making, SAC is for you! The group meets quarterly and leans into school quality and performance along with budgeting and programmatic decision-making. Click here to learn more about SAC.

Families for Achievement Council (FFA)

Think about FFA as your historic Parent Teacher Association (PTA), but with a core focus on student achievement. The FFA at each campus is a large group of parent volunteers who meet regularly to support our campuses and ensure scholars and staff are being supported and uplifted. Whether treating teachers to a wonderful lunch in recognition of their incredibly hard work or organizing a pep rally for our scholars prior to state assessments so they know the whole community is cheering them on, FFA brings additional joy to our daily experience.

Parent Champions

While we love and appreciate our parent volunteers, we also have opportunities for parents to become part time employees and serve as ambassadors to our schools. Our Parent Champions program provides parents with an opportunity to support our annual enrollment efforts, joining alongside of our enrollment team in a seasonal effort to spread the word about U Prep and the opportunity families have across our communities to become a part of our schools.
