University Prep – Steele Street is a K–5 elementary school located in the Clayton neighborhood of Denver.

Steele Street launched in the 2016-17 school-year as U Prep’s second campus. After more than a year of planning and preparation, the school opened its doors as a full, K – 5 turnaround, becoming the most successful example of public school transformation in modern state history. The campus remains a bright spot of possibility, proving that all children, from all backgrounds can achieve at the highest levels.

Co-teaching Model

In Kindergarten, provides a co-teaching model with two full-time teachers in each classroom to meaningfully support our youngest learners.

After School Programming

Offers free, after school programming up until 6:00 PM with a range of offerings – Boys & Girls Club, Coding, Music and Sports.

Major Improvements

Part of the 2016 Denver bond, Steele St. received 5+ million in construction and renovation funds. Included the addition of a brand-new, full size gym and the creation of a turf field to add to the diverse playscape.

Ongoing Renovations (Keeping it Fresh!)

In the 2023-24 school year, the campus went through a complete renovation of all K – 2nd grade classrooms with brand new carpet and paint along with the addition of interactive NewLineMonitors in every classroom across K – 5.
