A Historical GemOriginally named Twenty-Fourth St. School, Crofton Elementary was erected in 1879 on the southwest corner of 24th St. and Market between the Burlington Railroad tracks. In 1919, a new school building was constructed at Arapahoe and 24th St. and named after Mary Crofton – a founding teacher from the original 24th St. School. More than a century later, U Prep – Arapahoe St. carries this rich history forward.
Major ImprovementsPart of the 2012 Denver bond, Arapahoe St. received 5+ million in construction and renovation funds. This included the addition of a completely renovated lobby area (with premium safety features) and a significant expansion – 6 new classrooms, and a full size gym (all completed in 2014).
Ongoing Renovations (Keeping it Fresh!)In the 2023-24 school year, the campus went through a complete renovation, updating all K – 2nd grade classrooms with brand new carpet and paint along with the addition of interactive NewLineMonitors in every classroom across K – 5.
