In 2009 University Prep was an idea – a tuition-free, college prep elementary school that would ensure every child was on a trajectory to success in higher education and beyond. In 2011, our doors opened with 100 kindergarten and 1st grade scholars, and now, nearly 14 years later, almost 700 children experience our game changing program each year with roughly 800 alumni in middle school, high school and college.
More than ever, our organization remains committed to our founding mission of educating EVERY child for a four-year college degree and a life of opportunity. It’s what families in our community demanded when we started and it’s what families want and need today – children having access to unlimited futures because they stand on an unbreakable education foundation.
We love our scholars, are unwavering about our mission, and continue to work relentlessly towards achieving it. Transforming public education and its historic inequities is worth every ounce of effort we put forth in partnership with our families. We carry immense gratitude for the commitment that our school communities demonstrate each and every day and thank all of our scholars, parents, educators, team members and community supporters who wake up each day to bring our collective dream to life.
