Alastair Dawe

Alastair joined U Prep in May 2020. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he completed a Bachelor’s of Science (Hon) degree in Mathematical physics in 2004, before going on to completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 2019 through the Quantic school of Business and Technology.

Alastair started working with children in 2001, through the non-profit organization Crossroads for Kids in Boston, MA. He dedicated all 4 summers while in college working with Crossroads. Upon graduating he joined Explore Learning Ltd. (A British organization tutoring K-8 scholars in math, English language arts, and foundational reading skills) as an Assistant Center Director. Alastair went on to hold several positions within the organization including Center Director, and Regional Manager, before joining their senior leadership team. Across the span of these roles he oversaw the launch of several centers as well as becoming a master trainer within the organization, and overseeing commercial management training at all levels of the organization.

In 2013 Alastair lead Explore Learning’s expansion into its first US market in Dallas, Texas as the Vice President of Operations. In this role Alastair launched and oversaw the operations of 8 unique learning centers, tailoring the service to meet the needs of scholars studying the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum, while building systems and processes to scale the business.

Upon joining U Prep in 2020, Alastair took on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his role as COO Alastair oversees the financial health of the organization, talent strategy, enrollment, supports day-to-day operations of the existing U Prep schools, and is an aide to the Executive Director in matters of governance.
